Back to Black at Asian Hair Spa

“Be your own kind of Beautiful”                         – Unknown

For the past few weeks I’ve been going crazy just thinking about what to do with my hair. It felt so dry, boring and the natural color of my hair is already about two inches from its roots. So I was browsing over group buying sites, and I found a package in ensogo: For Php 999.00, I can enjoy a full hair color, a cellophane treatment to match it! (and this is for any length! A real great deal right?!) Plus, a foot spa, a manicure, and a pedicure to complete my most-sought-after weekend pampering! Perfect! And it’s also just 15-20 minutes away from home! Awesome! 🙂

Me and two of my cousins came at the salon at about 10am, just in time for our appointment. Apparently, another name was listed during our schedule. Fortunately, I remember the exact date I called the salon to book our appointment and the name of the person I was able to book it. So they decided it’s okay, and started accommodating us.

(Okay, before you stop reading and thinking about not going in this salon just because of the miscommunication in scheduling, Don’t! 😛 Please read more. Because, honestly, this “miscommunication” could’ve been avoided. 🙂 )

Tip: I suggest that even if you have already booked your schedule few days before the said date, make sure to call them a day before just to confirm it. 😉

The whole aura of the salon’s reception and waiting area is so cozy and very regal! I fell in love with their velvet sofa and Victorian wallpaper! Awww…

After a while, they led us to their salon room, apparently, they can only accommodate two clients at a time.

That’s my cousins! Having too much fun? 😛

Our stylist name is June, when he asked me what color do I want, I choose the one closest to a natural black (I’ve just been wanting to go back to my natural color for a looong time now 😛 ). But he recommended another color, a shade lighter than the one I chose, because he said, I would’ve looked liked I’m wearing a wig if he puts the one I wanted. It was fine by me, I mean, he knows better right? 🙂 This is one more thing I admire about June (and this salon 🙂 ), they don’t just put whatever color you choose. If they knew it wouldn’t look like the way you wanted it to be (as you described it to them), they would give their opinion, for your approval, just then they would do it! 🙂

BEFORE photos: Me on the left, and my cousin on the right.

Hair color was applied first. June used different techniques in applying the hair color for me and my cousin. He sets the mixture just after the two-inch growth from my roots, and then let it settle until the color took effect on my light-colored dry hair. 😛 The mixture was then added to the roots after the color was almost even. While on my cousins’ part, it was the other way around. The mixture was set from the roots, they let it settle for a while, then the rest of the hair was done.  Maybe it’s because I was having my hair darker, while she’s actually getting hers’ lighter. (I’ve learned from June that hair nearest to the roots absorbs the color faster that the ones on the ends)

Their foot spa is not your ordinary lotion-massage-and-rinse type, they use scrubs and moisturizers to remove dead skin cells and make your skin softer than before. This, together with the manicure and pedicure were done simultaneously while the hair coloring process is taking place. There’s really no time to waste at their place, which I admire, especially since I still have somewhere to go after my session at the salon. 🙂

After about an hour and a half, our hair was rinsed, then the cellophane blend was applied. After 30 more minutes, our hair was all blow dried, and all ready for a shoot! LOL

AFTER Photos: Tenen!!! 🙂

I love how mine turned out! Now, now, I swear,  I don’t ALWAYS do “selfies” but I can’t help it!

😛 My cousin liked hers as well, she just wished it was lighter, but after a while when we got out, and the sunlight touched her hair, she turned to love it! (She realized then that it was lighter than it was! Hehe)

All in all, based on my personal opinion, I say, my time and money was well spent, and this experience is really worth blogging. 🙂

November 15, 2012: A Santos + Santos Wedding (a Bridesmaid’s diary)

November 15, 2012- the day we’ve all been waiting for since the beginning of the year.. my cousin and her fiance’s, now wife’s, BIG day..

20121124-184301.jpg

Jershel and Danica Santos.. the married couple..

It all started around 7am when I had my breakfast at Richmonde cafe with my cousins (sisters of the groom) and the mothers of both bride and groom. Although it was a buffet, we try not to eat too much so we won’t have problem wearing our gowns later that day…hehe.. but we still make sure we try just about everything..

Make Up sessions started at 8am with our very beautiful make up artist Toni Aviles…

That’s me.. you don’t need to see the BEFORE.. what’s AFTER is more important..😊

Aside from having huge number of make ups that fits every skin tone, every facial features and every style, Toni also got a lot of tips on looking young and staying beautiful, she’s kind enough on sharing her knowledge on these stuffs.. 😊

That’s our pretty make up artist doing the make up of the bride.. she’s pretty isn’t she? 😊

And while it isn’t my turn yet for the hair and make up, i decided to just stroll around and take random photos.. 😊

These are the boquets for bridesmaids (like me..) maids-of-honor (yes, maids! 'cause there were two😊) and both moms of the couple.

Meanwhile, these set of purple and pink roses with swarovsky ornaments belong to the bride.

And this…this is the white, sparkling and extravagant wedding dress that the bride will work in that aisle made by Hana Saab-Tomacruz.

Okay, so it’s my time to shine..i mean to get my make up done..hehe..

20121125-101906.jpg
For my make up, they use simple and basic colors of blush-on and lipstick.. not to much..just enough to contour my face a little bit so that i’ll have the picture perfect beauty in any angle..lols..😁

For my hair, it’s kind of my idea, with inspiration from various celebrities..hehe..braids and soft curls..that’s my look for that day.

Preparations ended around 2pm, just in time for the 3.30pm wedding mass at Mt.Carmel Church near Broadway.

At 3pm, me, my fellow bridesmaid cousins, the best man and the groom arrived at the church.

Now, that’s me…ready to walk down the aisle, as a bridesmaid of course. Oh i’ll get my turn someday, I just need to find my groom first… hehehe

As for the rest of the day, a lot more had happened. Laughters, Tears (of joy, definitely!) and other memorable things.

Everyone is tired but definitely happy, and this day is about to end, but the couple’s journey to a whole new path of their life together…is just about to begin
